Celebrate 25 Years of Strathmore Cricket 1971-1996

Decisions in the winter of 1971 led directly to the formation of Strathmore Cricket Club.

In the winter of 1996 we have been busy making arrangements to celebrate our quarter century in a big way on the weekend of Saturday, 16th November.

Amongst the attractions will be:

Presentation to a 'senior team of the quarter century' after training on Thursday evening;
Presentation to a 'junior team of the quarter century' after Under 10s on Friday evening;
A reunion dinner dance on Saturday evening at Cilom's Airport Lodge, Melrose Drive, Tullamarine; and
A family day at our clubrooms on Sunday afternoon featuring a 'legends match'.

Selection committees have been appointed for the two 'teams of the quarter century'. During the lead up they will announce their short list of around 25 candidates for each of the teams. Those candidates and anybody else who may be interested will be invited to the club for the presentation to the selected teams.

Accommodation for the dinner dance is strictly limited, with tickets available from early September at $40 per head which covers a three course meal, wine, beer and soft drink, and the band. Other drinks will be available at bar prices. Visitors interested in availing themselves of special rate accommodation will need to contact Cilom's directly on 03 9335 2788 before the middle of September. Cilom's is just a few hundred metres north of the old Melrose Drive ground that was home to many of our early teams. You can also look forward to a few other historic awards being presented at the dinner dance.

We have just ordered a commemorative issue of membership badges which will be issued to all this season's cricket members as well as to anybody who takes out a social membership to cover the anniversary weekend, at least while stocks last.

We are particularly keen to find out how to contact other persons who had an earlier involvement but may have lost touch with the club.

We are also keen to locate any Strathmore Cricket Club memorabilia which you might have put away in a cupboard or back shed.
